The National Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring Agency warned that night-time temperatures in some provinces of Mongolia are expected to fall to -51C in the period up to 28 January.
Today, Ulaanbaatar, lived up to its title of world’s coldest capital – the temperature was minus 26-28 Celsius and there was an additional wind chill. Last night, the temperature fell to -47C in Zavkhan province in western Mongolia.
The icy weather is being caused by a Siberian cold-front which is currently sweeping through Mongolia, bringing freezing temperatures.
