The head of the Russian Federation’s Republic of Buryatia, Alexey Sambuevich Tsydenov has been was awarded the Order of the Polar Star. The ceremony took place  on 18 January  in the State Palace in accordance with a decree by President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga.

The high state accolade – the Order of the Polar Star was presented by Chief of Staff of the Office of the President Z.Enkhbold. According to the presidential decree, the Buryat leader is being awarded in recognition of his valuable contribution to Mongolia’s economy, the motor-transport sector, and in promoting bilateral cooperation.

AlexeyTsydenov worked as the Russian chair of the working group on transport in the Joint Commission on Commercial-Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the governments of Mongolia and the Russian Federation from 2012-2017. In February 2017, President Putin appointed him acting head of the Republic of Buryatia.

Seen as an effective young politician, Alexey Tsydenov’s support was highly valued in organising the 2015 Trilateral Ministerial Meeting on Transport  in the Russian city of Ufa and in the negotiation of the Programme for Establishing the  Mongolia, Russia and China Economic Corridor which was signed in 2016 in the Uzbek capital Tashkent.
