In 2015, Mongolia welcomed it’s third millionth citizen in 2015. The baby, born to a herder’s family was given the name Mongol-jin, by President Ts.Elbegdorj. That was three years ago, since then the population has been growing apace:

At the end of 2017, the population of Mongolia reached 3.2 million. According to official information from the National Statistical Office; the population rose by 59.8 thousand or 1.9 percent on the previous year. A total of 75734 newborns were registered; 1406 or 1.9 percent of of those were born abroad.
