Officers from Khuvsgul National Park has measured the thickness of the ice on the Lake Khuvsgul. The ice is 10-35 cm thick and tourists are being warned not to go onto the ice of Mongolia’s most famous lake..

Lake Khuvsgul is located in North Mongolia and is directly influenced by the icy winter wind from Siberia. The average winter temperature in -25 degrees celsius. However, many people drive their cars, trucks and other vehicles onto the ice;  the combined weight over a period of time makes the ice very unsafe.
