In recent years, several central banks have begun issuing commemorative bank notes to welcome each new lunar year.
The bank released a commemorative 70x150mm 100 tugrug note to mark the Year of the Dog. Each note includes 5g of silver foil. The back portrays a Mongol Bankhar, which is a mastiff formerly kept by the nomadic herders.
5,000 notes have been printed. The note is available through Liechtenstein’s Coin Invest Trust, who has been supplying Mongolia’s lunar coins for several years.
