Mongolian students have dressed in “deel” on Wednesday for celebrating Independence Day. Nearly 30,000 students and 1,800 teachers from 34 schools participated in the “Traditional Costume Day” on 27 December. The deel is an item of traditional clothing worn in Mongolia. Nowadays, the “deel” is only worn regularly by herders, but urban residents wear it on special days like Naadam or Tsagaan Sar.

Mongolia celebrates every year on December 29th and commemorates the country’s Declaration of Independence from the Qing dynasty in 1911.
