In Mongolia there will be a four-day holiday from December 29th until January 2nd. The week starts with Mongolia’s National Independence Day, which is celebrated every year on 29 December and commemorates the country’s Declaration of Independence from the Qing dynasty in 1911.

On Independence Day, there will be no charge for any member of the public wishing to visit National Museum of Mongolia.

The National Museum of Mongolia was established in 1924 and was the first museum in Mongolia. Exhibitions cover the country’s history from the Stone Age, pre-Mongol Empire, Mongol Empire, Mongolia during Qing rule, ethnography and traditional life, and the history of Mongolia in the twentieth-century.

The museum has 56,000 showpieces which accounts for 30 percent of all exhibits in museums throughout Mongolia.
