This year, there have been a total of nine earthquakes measuring over magnitude 3 on the Richter Scale in Khuvsgul, the most northerly province of Mongolia. The strongest of them, measuring 4.1 occurred in Bayanzurkh soum (district) on 21 September and in Tsagaan Nuur soum on 1 April. According to the Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, most of the seismic tremors have been centered in uninhabited Darkhad Khotgor. The most recent of the tremors was one measuring 3.8, which shook Tsagaan Nuur soum on 18 December.
