Japan’s ABEMA TV has made the great offer of JPY 10 million to anyone who can defeat former Mongolian sumo champion ‘Asashoryu’ in a New Year special on 31 December. During the show, ‘Asashoryu’, whose Mongolian name is D.Davgadorj, will wrestle for the JPY 10 million or USD 88,200. If he defeats all his components, he will receive the cash. In the first round, ‘Asashoryu’ – D.Davgadorj is to wrestle against five men who are not athletes. However, his last opponent will be mixed martial arts athlete Bob Sapp. Also known as ‘the Beast’, Bob Sapp is a US professional wrestler, actor, football player and celebrated ‘kickboxer’.
‘Asashoryu’ – D.Davgadorj, the 68th yokozuna in the history of the sport in Japan became the first Mongol to reach sumo’s highest rank in January 2003. He retired from the professional sumo ring in February 2010.
