The final International Judo Federation event of 2017 – the IJF Masters in St. Petersburg has begun. At stake are 1800 ranking points; in addition, the top 2017 judoka will receive a bonus USD 50,000. Nine top Mongolian athletes are participating in the competition in order to defend their current world rankings and to gain a good starting position for 2018 when the Olympic qualifications begin. A total of 212 judokas from 46 countries are battling in St. Petersburg.
For the fourth time, state-honoured Mongolian judoka D.Sumya in the women’s 57 kg has become World Masters champion. Furthermore, M.Kherlen has become champion in the men’s 66 kg category and M.Urantsetseg won bronze in the women’s 48 kg category.
