Mongolian athletes have been competing in a series of ice-skating, skiing, and biathlon competitions in order to qualify for the  2018 Olympic Winter Games. The much-awaited competition will be held from 9-25 February 2018 in  the South Korean city of Pyeongchang.

Recently, two Mongolian athletes participated in the IV World Skating Cup in Salt Lake City, which is one of the Olympic qualifying events. Sadly, both of them were a cat’s whisker short of qualifying:18 year-old, Ya.Zorigtbaatar achieved 1 minute 11.89 seconds in the men’s 1000 metre; in the woman’s 500 metre, 22 year-old Mongolian A.Zol 41.42 seconds.
