On 13 December, the Mongolian Cabinet decided to form a General Office for Health Insurance. This will be a government implementing agency, separate from Social Insurance. Health Minister D.Sarangere, has the responsibility for approving the strategic and structural change. The new agency is expected to begin operation on 1 January, 2018.
The report concludes that universal social health insurance has been achieved in Mongolia, however, the quality and accessibility of health care must be further improved, especially in rural areas.
