Three days remain to the final International Judo Federation event of 2017 –  the IJF Masters in St. Petersburg and still anything can happen to be ranked first in the world. At stake are 1800 ranking points; in addition, the top 2017 judoka will receive a bonus USD 50,000. Some of Mongolia’s star athletes are travelling to Russia to defend their current world rankings and to gain a good starting position for 2018 when the Olympic Qualification will start.

Mongolian athletes ready to battle for the bonus are U48kg, M.Urantsetseg: former Mongolian, now Kazakh fighter G.Otgontsetseg is currently ranked second in the world but she cannot start in Russia, so clearly M.Urantsetseg has outstanding papers for the bonus. This leaves D.Sumiya, who  is leading strongly in the U57kg.
