The story of ‘Eagle Huntress’ or Aisholpan Nurgaiv will inspire thousands of children worldwide. The young Mongolian Kazakh girl is considered as one of the 100 most extraordinary women and her story has been included in the children’s book ‘Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls’. The book packed with 100 bedtime stories about the lives of extraordinary women from the past and the present and has been illustrated by 60 female artists from around the world.

The new edition of the book is in huge demand, since it went on sale last week.

Aisholpan recently starred in a documentary film about a young girl from an ethnic Kazakh family of twelve generations of eagle hunters, who against all odds continues the age old tradition, whilst at the same time becoming the first female to fly the trained birds-of-prey in a male-dominated world.

Becoming a doctor is Aisholpan’s dream’ and she has already received invitations from Harvard and London University. Recently, she received the Asia Game Changer Lifetime Achievement Award for breaking gender barriers at a remarkably young age.

Bayan-Ulgii, which is Aisholpan Nurgaiv’s home is located in the mountainous far west of Mongolia and is the only province with a Kazakh majority. Here Mongolian is a second language. The Bayan-Ulgii Kazakhs are famous for their age-old tradition of using trained eagles for hunting.
