The New Year celebrations are fast approaching. In Mongolia there will be a four-day holiday from 29 December until 2 January. The week starts with Mongolia’s National Independence Day, which is celebrated every year on 29 December, to celebrate the country’s Declaration of Independence from Manchu-Qing Empire. It was on this day in 1924 that the Republic of Mongolia came into being.
The holiday will continue through the weekend (30-31 December); naturally Monday 1 January 2018 is an official holiday day.
The entitlement to national public holidays is regulated by the Labour Code of Mongolia, initially established in 1999. Several amendments have been added during the last decade in order to provide adequate paid time off for all employees.
