Mongolia has prisoner extradition agreements with nine countries. Within the framework of one such agreement, Ulaanbaatar in to conduct a prisoner swap with China. The Mongolian national in question, G.Baigalmaa, who is currently serving a life sentence for drug trafficking is expected to be returned to her native country on 6 December.

G.Baigalmaa has been extremely lucky: in 2009, a Chinese court sentenced her to capital punishment. Fortunately, this was reduced to a life sentence or a minimum 25 years in prison. China executes thousands of people every year, mainly for charges of murder and drug dealing.

At present, Mongolia is working hard to bring 25 prisoners from China, two from South Korea and one from Sweden back home.
