Earlier today (29 November), the National Committee on Food Safety of Mongolia held a meeting regarding the planned increase in the meat export quotas. In 2018, it is planned to set an export quota of 27,900 tonnes of beef and 33,600 tonnes of horse meat which represents an increase of ten thousand tonnes on the previous year. The committee, however, decided to exempt lamb from the export quotas.

As of 20 November this year, Mongolia exported a total of 21,500 tonnes of meat and meat products; 80 percent of this was horse meat.
