Mongolia paid respect to its Army Generals on 28th of April and marked the 73rd anniversary of establishing the rank of General of the Mongolian Army, the highest possible rank. On this day in1944, by decree of the National Ministry Committee, Mongolia honoured eleven famous military individuals with the rank of general.

Mongolia marks ‘Generals' Day’ on 28th of April every year for honouring their rank and contribution. Mongolian military institutions namely, the Armed Forces, the Police Department, the National Emergency Management Agency, the General Intelligence Agency, the General Authority for Border Protection and the General Executive Agency of Court Decision alternately mark ‘Generals' Day'. This year the General Intelligence Agency also paid respect to its Generals. A ceremony was held on Ulaanbaatar's Sukhbaatar Square earlier today (28th of April).

A total of 180 people has been awarded the ranks of general since 1944; of whom 99 are still alive. Major General T.Altangerel is the last surviving general who participated in the war.
