Drug trafficking represents a major challenge to many countries, not least to Mongolia. To the south, the country has a long land-border with China. In response to combating drug trafficking, the Mongolian customs authority have agreed to cooperate with China. The decision comes  after an official meeting between the directors.

Custom officials from two countries also agreed to work together on intercepting drugs and other illicit products.
