A number of people have been continuing a sit-down demonstration on Sukhbaatar square since Saturday (15^th of April). The group is protesting against offshore account holders and follows on from a larger event  organised by the ‘United anti-offshore movement’ (UAOM) two days ago; However, some demonstrators decided not to go home and continued their voluntary sit-down demonstration.

On Saturday, better known as a singer of poignant Mongolian melodies, Member of Parliament S.Javkhlan also demonstrated on Sukhbaatar square. The former singer's planned action was to protest against the budget amendments approved by the Mongolian parliament on Thursday (13th of April). During the Parliamentary Session, MP S.Javklan announced his demonstration for protesting against the Mongolian People’s Party for breaking its promises by increasing pension ages and putting up taxes. Possibly, expecting a song or two of protest, UAOM joined Mr Javkhlan with their own sit-down demonstration.

Sukhbaatar Square, known for a time as Chinggis Square, is the largest in Ulaanbaatar and is traditionally the focal point for all public demonstrations, spanning the time from the peaceful democratic revolution in 1990, to the violent riot in July 2008 when five democratic protestors were shot dead.
