The UN Regional Program
Coordinator of Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in the Asia-Pacific region,
Ms. Anuradha K. Rajivan, and UNDP Senior Economist in Mongolia, Dr. Saurabh
Sinha, yesterday called on the Chief of the Standing Committee on Social
Policy, Education, Culture and Science, D.Ochirbat, to discuss the progress of
implementation of the MDG program in Mongolia.
The Government believes 66% of
the goals have been reached. Ms. Rajivan felt better coordination of work in
various spheres would lead to faster progress, as many of them are related to
one another.
Ochirbat gave a brief resume of
how Parliament approaches the social sector and described the laws it has
passed on employment, health, higher education etc. He also mentioned the draft
law on health insurance that is likely to be passed soon. He said his Committee
was ready to offer all help to those who ran MDG implementation programs.
