Two Mongolian soldiers were killed and eight others were wounded on Tuesday (11th of April) when a grenade accidentally exploded at Tavantolgoi military training centre 50 km from Ulaanbaatar.
The General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces named the two fatalities as first sergeants A and N; both were from rural districts. All the wounded soldiers were evacuated to the Central Military Hospital in Ulaanbaatar and two of them had emergency surgery yesterday.
The Police Department of Mongolia is investigating the case. According to an official source, the accident might have been caused by human error.
Two months ago, a 19-year-old soldier was seriously wounded by a grenade explosion when on military training in Orkhon province. The soldier injured his eyes and burnt his hand.
