Mongolian Airlines (MIAT) has concluded a leasing agreement with the Boeing Company in assistance with Avolon Aerospace Leasing Limited regarding two Boeing 737 MAX 8 airpcraft. The national carrier is to lease the two Boeing aircraft for 12 years starting from 2019.

Previously, MIAT made a deal with Boeing to buy three aircraft, the first of which, a  Boeing 767-300ER, was received in 2013. The remaining two aircraft were to be purchased in 2019; however, the Mongolian side decided to acquire these planes on a leasing basis due to the current economic difficulties.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft are expected to arrive in Mongolia during the first half of 2019.
