Mongolia's new international airport currently under construction 60 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar at Khushigt Valley in Sergelen soum of Tuv Province is nearing completion. M.Enkhbold, Speaker of Mongolian Parliament with MP N.Enkhbold, Head of the State Building Standing Committee and D.Ganbat, Minister of Roads and Transportation were joined by journalists for a visit at the construction site on 22nd of March.

Construction of the international airport complex began on 25th of June, 2013. The new airport has six gates, which  will, over time, be extended to twenty. Officials are planning that  six planes will take off simultaneously from the new airport when it opens. The new airport complex is creating more than 2000 new jobs.

11 years ago, Mr. M.Enkhbold, started discussions with Tokyo regarding the construction of the new international airport at Khushigt Valley near Ulaanbaatar when he visited Japan.

According to the plan, when the new airport complex begins operations, a satellite town will established. In 2012, M.Enkhbold first presented to parliament the general plan of for the adjacent satellite town in Khushigt Valley, intended to be home for 80-100 thousand people.
