Following the new amendments to the Law on Value Added Tax, for the first time, 461,865 individual VAT payers have received a reimbursement of up to 20 percent, totalling MNT33.8 billion.
In all, 620.409 citizens registered their payment receipts at an online unified payment record system (www.ebarimt.mn) throughout 2016. According to the General Taxation Office, 482,600 VAT payer-individuals are now eligible to receive the reimbursement.
However, the remaining 137,822 of the VAT payers failed to confirm their private information or had put down incorrect banking details. They have been given until February 15th to correct this.
The General Taxation Office reported that a total of MNT1.5 trillion in tax was collected for the state budget in 2016, of which MNT 555.2 billion, or 35 percent, was VAT. This means that VAT income grew by MNT 70 billion compared to 2015.
