Much of the road repair work is finished but
in some areas the greenery has gone and pavements damaged during the road
repair have not been restored. Both are the contractual responsibility of the
repair companies. The tender allotment provided for money on both accounts. The
Auto Road Office should not have issued a completion certificate to companies
that did not fulfill responsibilities.

The Chief of the
Public Property Department at the Mayor’s Office has admitted that the road
repair companies should have done the work as this was included in their
payment, but “since they have not done it, the work with now be completed with
funds from the city budget”.
