A Russian team has recently begun a search
for remains of planes destroyed during the Khalkh Gol war against Japan in the
late 1930s. It is reported to have located the remains of one plane in the
Khalkh River and is making arrangements to lift it from the river bed.

The team will also
identify soldiers’ graves in the Russian cemetery in Ulaanbaatar to repair them
and give them proper headstones.
