Mongolia established diplomatic relations with the USA on 27^th of January, 1987. In the framework of the 30^th anniversary of the event, a conference of young researchers is taking place in Ulaanbaatar, today18^th of January. Under the theme of ‘Mongolia-US Relations and US Policy in Northeast Asia’ the conference has opened at the building of General Election Commission. About 50 young researchers are participating in the conference which is being organised by the Mongolian-American Society, the Institute of International Relations at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and Ulaanbaatar Center for Policy Research.

During the morning session, various aspects of Mongolia-US relations were discussed. Presentations were given on ‘US foreign policy: perspectives’ by B.Boldoo, ‘USA-China political relations: current developments and perspectives’ by Kh.Shinechimeg and ‘Modern Russia and USA relations: restricted partnership’ by A.Nyamdoljin.

With the Inauguration of President Trump taking place on Friday, it is very likely that the young researchers are going to be very busy rewriting  their presentations as a new era of US foreign policy begins.
