The Deputy Head of the Ulaanbaatar
Democratic Youth Union (UDYU), B.Battsengel, has been reported in the Uls Turiin
Toim newspaper as saying his organization wants to raise young people’s
interest in politics but does not offer politics as a career. People, including
musicians and actors, join political parties not only on ideological grounds but
also for immediate and future gain.
Battsengel, who himself is a hip
hop singer and writes songs, says he knows of hip hop singers who have joined
the MPP for financial profit, even though their sympathies are with parties
that give more value to democracy. But it is their private choice, he added.
