Mongolia is a gem waiting to be discovered. It is one of the least densely populated countries in the world and an enticing destination for travelers looking to experience different cultures. 'Travelers Today' said, here are the top 5 places you can visit in Mongolia:

The Gobi Desert

The Gobi desert has one of the most unusual desert landscapes in the world and is home to the 'singing' Khongoryn Els dunes. The last remaining two-humped back camels in the world and  Gobi bears are found in the desert. The Gobi bears are the only bears in the world that can live in a desert environment. In this amazing and diverse place, visitors can visit  picturesque locations, such as the  Bayanzag, and Khermen Tsav, the latter being the place where the first ever full dinosaur skeleton was discovered.

Lake Khuvsgul

Lake Khuvsgul, a.k.a. Dark Blue Pearl of Mongolia, is surrounded by the mountains of Koridol Saridag and Bayan Mountain Ranges. The lake is a sight to behold with all the greenery surrounding the lake. The pristine lake was formed almost 3 million years ago due to the movements of tectonic plates.

Three National Parks: Terelj, Khustai and Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur

Terelj National Park is the largest protected area in Mongolia and an ideal spot for adventure sports activities due to its natural beauty. Apart from the fantastic ecology, the Khustai National Park is home to the Ongots man monuments, temple ruins, and numerous Hunnu's rectangular tombs. The Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park is dominated by the Terhiin Tsagaan Lake, which is surrounded by extinct volcanoes. The lake can be found at an altitude of 2060 meters and many rare birds can be seen in its vicinity – often when migrating.

Tsagaan Suwarga

Tsagaan Suwarga literally translates as the 'White Stupa'. The Tsagaan Suwarga was formed from a limestone bedrock formed in the ancient times. During the day the desert floor transforms from white to yellow to pink before turning red.

Ulaanbaatar City

Ulaanbataar is the capital city of Mongolia. The city is a perfect blend of the ancient and the modern. Ancient monasteries contrast well with skyscrapers. Its museums display amazing dinosaur remains and priceless works of Buddhist art.  Visitors in search of souvenirs, antiques, traditional clothes or, literally anything else, can shop at the Narantuul Market – but keep an eye on your wallet, the place has a reputation for pickpockets!

Now that you know more about this unique country, make sure you include Mongolia in your future travel plans. With its perfect fusion of old and new and ancient structures, Mongolia is indeed a land to behold.
