Air pollution in modern Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia is a very serious problem. In December alone, parents demonstrated  twice against the killer smog – which has filled hospitals to overflowing and resulted in an increase in children developing serious illnesses, sometimes terminal.

Activists have started attaching white masks to the famous statues to highlight air pollution in Ulaanbaatar. It is an effective action – assuming you can see the statue through the smog!
