A visit by M.Enkhbold, the Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament to the  countries of the Persian Gulf continued with a working trip to Kuwait. On  the first day (20th of December) of the visit, Mr.Enkhbold met Abdul Wahab Ahmed ali-Bader, President of Kuwait Foundation. The foundation granted  USD 1.9 billion in credit to 160 countries in 2016.

Mr.Abdul Wahab Ahmed ali-Bader said: ‘The relations between our two countries span almost twenty years. However, cooperation between our countries has been frozen in recent years and some issues require solutions. We granted a USD 12 million credit facility for the construction of the new government house of Mongolia. However, this credit was later re-directed for the construction of a children's hospital. Mongolia has, more recently, proposed that we invest in the project to construct a hydro-electric station on the Shuren river. We have examined the proposal and are now waiting the technical and economic feasibility study from Mongolia. We are currently focusing on cooperation with Mongolia in the road, transportation and energy sectors.’

Diplomatic relations with the Kuwait were established in 1975. The Kuwait Foundation has provided a total of USD 58.2 million credit for road construction on the sections between Darkhan-Erdenet and Erdenet-Bulgan as well as the Tarialan section; in addition USD 19.8 million credit has been provided for the construction of the hydro-electric station on the Taishir river. Kuwait also provided USD 500 thousand aid for Mongolia when the country was  hit by extreme winter weather in 1999-2000.’
