An inter-governmental memorandum on cooperation between Mongolia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been signed in Abu Dhabi during a visit of the Speaker of the State Great Khural (parliament), M.Enkhbold. The Speaker discussed economic cooperation, investment, legal and humanitarian issues with Mrs. Amal Al Qubaisi, President of the Federal National Council of the UAE.
During the visit, Mrs. Amal Al Qubaisi noted that the UAE places great importance in energy cooperation with Mongolia, and that both legislatures must pay a special attention to eliminating duplicated taxes and alleviating visa issues.
Mongolia is seeking to broaden the scope of bilateral relations, by strengthening cooperation in the export of meat and meat products and jointly implementing other major projects with the UAE.
Diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates were established in 1996. The last year, however, has seen a dramatic increase in contact and activity, following various senior level visits and the opening of the UAE Embassy in Ulaanbaatar. One of the main results has been the cooperation agreement signed between MIAT, the Mongolian national carrier and Flydubai, earlier in 2016.
