Mongolia, Russia and China sign Asian transport agreement

The transport ministers of Mongolia, Russia and China have signed an Asian road transport agreement in Moscow. Irritated by the recent visit of the Dalai Lama to Mongolia, China had been refusing to sign the agreement – but has finally relented. Chinese Transport Minister Liu Xiaomin signed the document during the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific Ministerial Conference on transport held from 5th to 12th of December; from Mongolia, Minister of Roads and Transport D.Ganbat took part.

Minister Ganbat said: ‘It is historic day for Mongolia. Our country has signed the  intergovernmental agreement with our two friendly neighbours on Asian road transport. It is first agreement within the Chinese, Russian and Mongolian Economic Partnership Agreement . The presidents of the three countries signed the long-awaited trilateral economic partnership agreement in Tashkent, Uzbekistan during the 11th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in June".
