The New Construction program passed by Parliament in 2010 calls for
motor roads to connect Ulaanbaatar with all aimag centers. This year’s budget has
allocated MNT6.4 billion for construction of such roads.

The Auto Road Office recently arranged for representatives of 21 road
construction companies to attend a demonstration in Kharkhorin soum of
Uvurkhangai aimag to show what a road of proper quality should be like. The
participants exchanged experiences and discussed the most effective
cost-benefit ratio.

The first stage of the program envisages building 5,500 km of roads.
