There has been a sharp rise in the sale of bicycles in Mongolia. This increase has been attributed to the “Cycling Ulaanbaatar” first initiated by the Mongolian Youth Federation (MYF) four years ago. During the summer months the MYF organizes various events.  According to dealers, bicycle sales have increased 90 times and the number of cyclists has risen seven times. Four years ago, there were around 2000 cyclists in Ulaanbaatar; now, this figure has increased to more than 14 thousand. During the same period, a total of 70 km of cycle paths and lanes have been built.
