Mongolia successfully held its parliamentary election last June. Now, the country is preparing for the local election, which will be held on 19th of October. A plenary meeting of the non-regular session of Parliament, held on Tuesday (30th August) a budget for the local election was approved at a cost of MNT13.9 billion. This can be broken down as follows:
- Printing identity card for candidates and election workers – MNT 43 million
- Printing ballot-papers – MNT 3.3 billion
- Printing and distributing registration forms- MNT 7.7 million
- Supplying paper bags for stamps, wax and ballot-papers –MNT 72 million
- Repairing and delivering automatic vote counting machines – MNT 2.1billion
- Broadcasting news of voting – MNT 241 million
- Preparing voting stations – MNT 440 million
- Electoral law and other election overheads – MNT 444 million
- Training costs – MNT 462 million
- Election advertising – MNT 366 million
- Monitoring of candidates’ expenses – MNT 8 million
- Food for election workers – MNT 4.2 billion
- Documents, postal service, vehicles, mission of electoral districts – MNT 1.7 billion
- Operational cost of election – MNT 110 million
