This autumn, Mongolia is expected to harvest 501 thousand tonnes of crops. This can be broken downs as: 174.7 thousand tonnes of potatoes, 117.5 thousand of other vegetables, 32.5 thousand tonnes of plant oils and 43.4 thousand tonnes of forage crops for cattle. Nearly 320 thousand tonnes of wheat can provide Mongolian annual flour demand. Therefore, Mongolia will not have to import flour because of this year’s anticipated harvest.
The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry has reported that six thousand tons of fuel is expected to be needed for harvesting works. As we have reported, the Mongolian Crop Farming Support Fund is providing loans to farmers to enable them to buy 6000 tonnes of fuel oil for harvesting. For this a prepayment of up to 50% is required – the rest being paid by from the crop.
