On Tuesday (30th August), the executive council of the Mongolian Freestyle Wrestling Association (MFWA) apologised to the Government and people of Mongolia over disputed competition of G.Mandakhnaran at the Rio Olympics. MFWA officials condemned the scandalous behavior of the two coaches in question during the Olympic competition and banned them for two years. However, Mongolian Freestyle Wrestling Association said it would appeal to the Sport Arbitration Court for over the disputed competition involving G.Mandakhnaran. Before 1st September, Mongolia must send letters to the United World Wrestling to inform them of the decisions made.
At the 13th Summer Olympics at Rio-de-Janiero, Brazil, a total of 43 Mongolian athletes took part, of them 10 were wrestlers. On the last day, Mongolian wrestler G.Mandakhnaran clearly defeated Uzbekistan’s Ikhtiyor Navruzov in the men’s 65 kg category for bronze; however, a last minute snap decision by the referee gave the victory to his opponent. At the moment, two outraged Mongolian wrestling coaches stripped off their clothing to protest the decision.
