Hunters from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been detained by locals while illegally catching falcons in the Khuvsgul Province. They are now waiting for permission to catch 13 falcons from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia.
Mongolian falcon trappers require a Government-issued permit to catch and export the birds and there is an annual quota which in recent years has been reduced from 300 to 240 birds. The price for one falcon is US 11,760.
