Mongolian wrestler G.Mandakhnaran sadly lost in the 65kg freestyle Olympic bronze medal. But a kind schoolgirl, who lives in Canada wants to give her own medal instead of the Olympic bronze to G.Mandakhnaran. D.Uyanga’s family sent a letter to our News Agency by e-mail.
In the letter, ‘Our family watched honoured athlete G.Mandakhnaran’s competition for Olympic bronze yesterday. My little girl cried a lot after our wrestler lost unfairly in the competition. She told me that a few days ago, her class mate gave his medal from a school competition to Irish boxer Michael Conlan who had also been ‘cheated’ out of his medal. So she wants to do same to G.Mandakhnaran. She wants to present her medal from school cup in 2013. Our family lives in Ottawa, Canada. If G.Mandakhnaran accepts our daughter’s her kind present, we will send it by post.
The two Mongolian coaches stripped off and hurled their shoes in protest at the judges on Sunday after wrestler G.Mandakhnaran was denied victory for ‘running away’ from his Uzbek opponent in the final seconds of their bronze medal contest. G.Mandakhnaran, leading Ikhtiyor Navruzov by seven points to six, taunted his opponent by dancing around him in the last 18 seconds of their 65kg match and was then carried around the ring in triumph by one of his coaches. But the judges then adjusted the score to 7-7, penalizing the Mongolian for 'fleeing the hold', or refusing to engage with his opponent. They then added a further point to the Uzbek's score after the Mongolian corner challenged the decision and had the challenge rejected.
