The Mongolian foreign exchange reserve decreased to USD 1296.60 Million in June from USD 1441.90 Million in May of 2016. The situation is serious – according to new administration of the Bank of Mongolia, the country's foreign exchange reserve is running out. Some people believe that this statement is a response to the increase in the value of the US dollar.
According to economists, falling foreign investment and export revenue as well as the depleting foreign exchange reserve has resulted in a sharp decrease in the value of the Mongolian tugrik. The exchange rate has eroded by 58% over the last four years. According to Finance Minister B.Choijilsuren, because of the exchange difference, the Mongolian economy is losing MNT850 billion.
