The Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science yesterday approved a draft law on student stipend that has been submitted by President Ts.Elbegdorj. The chief of the Cabinet Secretariat, Ch.Khurelbaatar, asked for a postponement as the financial obligations needed to be studied further but the members did not agree. Minister of Finance S. Bayartsogt told Khurelbaatar the law would take effect on January 1, 2012.

The draft would now have to be approved by Parliament.
