The Mongolian Foreign Ministry has reminded foreigners, whether living in the country permanently or just visiting, that they must carry their passports at all times.

Under point 7.4.5., of Article 7 of the Law on Legal Status of Foreign Nationals: “foreign nationals who are staying in Mongolia for business or personal reasons are obliged to carry their passport and residence permit provided by the authorities at all times. If a foreigner is not carrying his/her passport or equivalent identification, he/she shall be fined MNT 100 thousand, in accordance with the new Offence Law”
