Mongolian peacekeepers under the command of Lt. Col. B.Chinzorig who have returned from Afghanistan, have been awarded state orders and medals. Over 100 Mongolian troops from the fifth deployment participated in NATO’s ‘Decisive Support’ in Afghanistan. During the ceremony at Mongolia’s Palace of Officers, Z.Enkhbold, head of the presidential administration handed medals to the peacekeepers. President Kh.Battulga has decreed to award the soldiers with the Mongolian Peace Keeping Medal.

Outgoing US Ambassador to Mongolia, H.E. Jennifer Zimdahl Galt, participated in the ceremony and has congratulated the peacekeepers.

Over the past few years, Mongolian soldiers have successfully participated in peacekeeping activities in Sierra Leone, Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kosovo, Georgia, Iraq and South Sudan. During this period, great acts of heroism and bravery have taken place, including rescuing refugees from armed extremists.
