To mark the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Declaration of Independence, the renowned Cris Derksen Trio will perform a concert in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The concert will be held at the Ulaanbaatar Ensemble on 9 November at 7.00 p.m.

Musicians from the Ulaanbaatar Ensemble, Khusugtun, folk band and throat singer O.Chuluunbaatar will also participate in the concert.

Born in Alberta, Cris Derksen is, by nationality, Cree. She is a skilled cellist and is famous for promoting Canadian indigenous music around the world.

The Canadian trio will give lessons for students of the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture tomorrow (Thursday 9 November).
