The layout of the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar was designed for a different era. Now the daily traffic jams, blocked streets and reek of fumes have made it a veritable nightmare. It is estimated that over half-a-million vehicles are on the capita’s roads every day – often hardly moving! The traffic jams also add to the city’s other top problem – air pollution. In order to alleviate the congestion, the UB Road Administration has set up a website and mobile app; these offer drivers alternate routes in order to avoid being stuck in traffic. The mobile app, should not only reduce stress but save people time and petrol.
