Park University in Kansa, USA, will highlight the music, arts, history and food of Mongolia at its annual Cultural Sharing event on April 23.

“The annual Cultural Sharing event creates the opportunity to celebrate the colorful cultures of our world and promote global understanding. This year, we get a chance to experience the wonderful culture and people of Mongolia. The program will take you through time, from Genghis Khan (proclaimed ruler in 1206) to the present, interweaving the country”s history and culture with recorded music, a live traditional horse hair fiddle player, live vocals, a fashion show and several dance pieces,” said Kimberly Connelly, assistant director of Park”s Office of International Student Services, which is a co-sponsor of the event.

This is the sixth year for Park”s Cultural Sharing event, which highlights a different country each year. The International Student Services office lists 664 international students from 120 countries, including 28 from Mongolia.

The Cultural Sharing dinner, which will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., will feature traditional Mongolian dishes such as beef soup, barbeque, handmade dumplings, potato salad, traditional cabbage salad and milk tea. The cost is USD7.45 per person.
