Premier S.Batbold received the Deputy Minister for
Foreign Affairs of Japan, Koro Bessho, on June 30. Bessho was in Mongolia to take
part in the ninth bilateral policy consultative meeting. Batbold
offered his condolence for the tsunami and earthquake deaths in March, 2011 and
then thanked Japan for its support ever since Mongolia adopted democracy and the
market economy.
Calling Japan a strategic partner, Batbold said the two
countries’ relations could be developed in all spheres, especially in the
economic. The 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations falls in 2012 and
Mongolia plans to celebrate it with high level visits.
Bessho said bilateral cooperation does not have to be
restricted to the Government level but must involve the private sector, too. He
thanked Mongolia for supporting Japan’s claim to permanent membership of the UN
Security Council and also invited the Premier to visit Japan.
