During his visit to Hong Kong, Prime Minister S.Batbold was interviewed by journalists from Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and Fortune, who all asked about the Mongolian economy, especially the mining sector and the selection of investor and exploiter for Tavantolgoi, new railway construction, and the possible influence of the mining boom on next year’s election.

Batbold said the decision on Tavantolgoi would be taken strictly on business principles and to ensure the most benefit to Mongolia. He stressed that Mongolia places great value on ties of friendliness and cooperation with its two neighbors, and all its third neighbors, but did not wish to be dependent on any of them, to the detriment of its own national interests.
